Solar PV

I HAVE SINCE MOVED HOUSE AND SO THIS IS RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS HOUSE

I had Solar PV installed on the house in April 2013.  Whilst it may not look that attractive, it has been generated ever since and will repay the capital outlay within about 6 years through:

  • Feed In Tariff scheme run by the UK Government.  This pays 15.44pence per kWh produced.
  • Export-Tariff scheme run by Energy providor (Scottish Power).  This pays 4.64pence per kWh returned to the national grid that is not used at home [estimated at 50% generation].
  • Using as much of the generated electricity as possible to prevent buying from the grid (at least 10pence per kWh saving).

The system specifications are:

  • 16 x All-black Monocrystalline Upsolar UP-M250M-B 250W panels
  • 1 x Aurora Power One 3.6 Out-D inverter
  • Geo Solar PV display
  • Government approved generation meter

The panels are split over two roof spaces.  4 panels reside on the sound-facing extension roof.  12 panels reside on the South-east facing main roof.

The generation logger currently uploads to PVOutput.org at:
